Warnings Before Buying a Dog

  • Never buy a dog on impulse. Keep in mind, the dog is going to be a dependent member of your family for 12-15 years.
  • Never buy a dog as a surprise present; never buy a dog for anyone without consulting them first.
  • Never buy or allow yourself to be given, as shy undersized or sick dog because you are sorry for it. A dog of this kind is best left in the breeder's care.
  • Never buy a breed of dog without talking to other owners of the breed and, if possible, seeing the dogs in a private home. Dogs which can be managed in kennels may not be so easy in your home and your car.
  • Never buy a puppy, from any source, where you are not allowed to see its mother, for whatever reason.
  • Never buy a puppy which has traveled any distance before being offered for sale.
